Mediation and Restorative Justice on the Summer University of CEU

2012. 07. 15.

The lectures introducing the basic principles, techniques, and fields of application of mediation familiarized students with new ways of conflict resolution emphasizing the community and school applicability of restorative practices.

The two-week (4-15. of July 2012.) long mediation training organized in cooperation by Central European University, Hamline University School of Law and Benjamin Cardozo School of Law saw presentations from outsanding experts like Sharon B. Press, Joseph Stulberg, Petra Bárd, Christian Hartwig, Csilla Kollonay and Borbála Fellegi. The executive of Foresee Reasearch Group summarized the main principles and forms of restorative justice in one of her presentations, while in the other she introduced effective conflict resolution techniques using a township mediation project as an example. Both times, the 32 students from various countries had the chance to participate in interactive group exercises, and they also watched two films made by Foresee: „Intertwined” on school mediation and „We also exist” on community mediation.
